In the months after the 2016 elections, I wrote and toured this urgent work throughout the states between November 2016-February 2017 addressing resistance, compassionate anarchy, and prompting a reconsideration of how we tell stories . Utilizing my drag/gender-fuck persona – Dolly Dali (a mashup of Dolly Parton and Salvador Dali) – my goal was to provide relief and care to marginalized communities who were on the foreground of resistance in the months leading up to President Trump’s inauguration and his first weeks in office. I performed the work in a constellation of cities over these three months and rewrote the piece before each performance so as to address the most pressing concerns to the community in which I performed. In this way the work was not about mastering the craft, but allowing the form to be in service of others.
